Philips Launches S7221 5G Smartphone in India with UNISOC T8200 Chip

Philips has expanded its smartphone lineup in India with the new S7221 5G. The budget device packs a smooth 120Hz display, an energy efficient UNISOC T8200 processor, and a large 5700mAh battery. Pricing starts at 20499 INR for the base 6GB model.

The phone features a 6.67 inch LCD screen with a 1600 x 720 resolution and a fast 120Hz refresh rate for smoother everyday scrolling. Under the hood sits a 6nm UNISOC T8200 chipset. This octa core silicon combines 2 Cortex A76 performance cores with 6 Cortex A55 efficiency cores, backed by a Mali G57 MC2 graphics processor. Buyers can choose between 6GB or 8GB of RAM, both coming with 128GB of internal storage for apps and media.

For daily photography, the rear panel houses a 64MP main sensor to handle sharp photos. Selfies and video calls rely on a 16MP front camera tucked into the display. Powering the hardware is a generous 5700mAh battery that recharges through a standard USB C port. That gives users plenty of screen time between charges.

On the software side, the handset ships with Android 16 right out of the box. Physical security is handled by a side mounted fingerprint scanner built into the power button. Other practical hardware features include dual SIM 5G network support, dual band Wi Fi, an IP64 rating for dust and splash protection, and dual stereo speakers for clearer audio playback.

Retail pricing in India is set at 20,499 INR (approx. $217 USD) for the 6GB and 128GB variant. The upgraded 8GB and 128GB edition costs 22,499 INR (approx. $238 USD). This places the S7221 5G squarely in the competitive mid range bracket, offering large battery capacity and modern network speeds for everyday buyers.
