RugOne Xsnap 7 Pro Launches with Detachable Action Camera and 9300mAh Battery

RugOne has launched the Xsnap 7 Pro, a rugged smartphone featuring a rear camera module that unclips to function as a standalone action camera. The phone pairs extreme water protection with a massive 9300mAh battery that recharges the mini camera on the go. Backers can secure the device through crowdfunding for 799 euros ahead of a wider global retail launch priced at $999.

The standout hardware on the back of the phone is a modular camera unit you can pull off and mount anywhere. This tiny unit captures 2.7K video at 30fps through a 133 degree ultra wide lens. Built in distortion correction keeps wide angle shots looking straight, while 360 degree software stabilization locks the horizon during heavy movement. The mini camera runs for 40 minutes of continuous recording on its own internal power. Once it runs low, snapping it back into the phone taps into the main 9300mAh battery pack to deliver up to 800 minutes of total filming time.

Storage on the standalone camera reaches 64GB, which holds about 8 hours of 1080p video before needing a transfer. Every time you reconnect it to the phone body, footage moves over to the 512GB internal storage on the handset. The detachable unit also handles deeper water than the phone itself. You can submerge the camera unit down to 5 meters, while the main phone chassis is rated for 2 meters.

Water resistance ratings hit IP68 and IP69K standards. This dual certification means the chassis withstands high pressure water jets and full underwater submersion for 30 minutes. Up front, the 6.67 inch AMOLED display runs at a smooth 120Hz refresh rate. It doubles as a wireless remote viewfinder for the unclipped camera, streaming a live preview across distances up to 49 meters away.

Under the hood, the phone runs on a MediaTek Dimensity 8400 5G processor backed by 12GB of RAM and 512GB of onboard storage. Software comes as Android 16 out of the box, with RugOne promising long term system upgrades all the way through Android 20. Extra photography hardware on the rear includes a 50MP main sensor with image stabilization and a 64MP night vision camera backed by infrared LEDs. Selfies and video calls rely on a 32MP front facing shooter.
