Want a portable but powerful computer that won’t drain your bank account? Minisforum has just unveiled the NAB9 Plus. This new mini PC is a very welcome upgrade to its already popular NAB9 model. This pint-sized little machine comes with a punch and some seriously useful connectivity. It has launched in China.
What’s New in the ‘Plus’ Version?
On the inside, the NAB9 Plus retains the beefy Intel Core i9 12900HK CPU from the original NAB9. But the real tale here is connectivity. Minisforum responded proactively to community feedback by improving the ports. This makes this mini PC even more versatile.
Here’s the exciting news:
- OCuLink Port: Gamers, listen up. With OCuLink added, you can easily hook up an external GPU (eGPU). Turn this mini PC into a surprisingly powerful gaming rig.
- USB4 Port: Take your eGPU options one step further. The NAB9 Plus also has a USB4 port. Most compatible, most powerful.
- DisplayPort 1.4: Finally, there is now a DisplayPort 1.4. This was not available as standard on the NAB9. Say hello to ultra high def displays and snappier images.
Ports and Features You Still Get
Aside from those new additions, the NAB9 Plus promises a healthy mix of ports and features, including:
- Abundant USB ports: Two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A and two USB 2.0 Type-A for all the peripherals you can handle.
- HDMI 2.1 for clear video playback.
- Two 2.5G Ethernet ports for fast networking.
- Integrated WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 provide wireless convenience.
- Minisforum’s “efficient” cooling technology to make sure Core i9 is operating smooth even at load.
- User-serviceable RAM and storage upgrades — just pop the cover.
Upgradeability and Storage
The NAB9 Plus, like its predecessor, promises to be easy to upgrade:
- Compatible with 32GB (3200MHz) DDR4 RAM.
- One M.2 2280 slot for up to a 4TB PCIe 4 NVMe SSD.
- Room for a 2.5-inch SATA 3.0 drive for more storage.
Pricing Surprisingly Affordable
The best part? Despite this upgrade though, the price in China stays the same. Base-spec NAB9 Plus starts from CNY 2299 ($317 USD). The full 32GB RAM/1TB storage spec runs CNY 3099 ($427 USD).
Global Release? Keep an Eye Out
Minisforum hasn’t shared global availability information yet. But considering the original NAB9 has reached international markets (Amazon included), it’s likely the NAB9 Plus will as well. If you want a powerful, compact, and upgradeable mini PC with great connectivity, the NAB9 Plus is one to watch.
