New World Aeternum Going Offline in January 2027

Following a previous announcement that no new content would be developed after the Nighthaven season, the development team for New World: Aeternum has confirmed the game's official shutdown timeline. The servers for the game will be permanently taken offline on all platforms on January 31, 2027.

Key Shutdown Dates and Details

The whole shutdown process will be in tiers. This is the official schedule for shutting down the game:

  • Game Unavailable for Purchase: January 15, 2026-New World: Aeternum Available Unpurchasable
  • In-Game Purchases End: Players will no longer be able to purchase Marks of Fortune or other in-game items starting July 20, 2026.
  • Servers Offline: The game becomes permanently inaccessible on January 31, 2027.

State of the Game until Termination

For players who currently own the game, Nighthaven season will continue until server shutdown, allowing them to play for the remainder of the game's life cycle. There will be no new content or server merges, but the team will observe for bugs and performance issues. World bosses and bonus weeks in-game events will also continue until the last date of shutdown.
