Dolphin G is placed in the small B class market to fight head on with competitors like Volkswagen Polo and Toyota Yaris. BYD didn't choose a standard hybrid system for this model and instead implemented a plug in hybrid. This allows the engine to act as an onboard power generator to power the main motor and thus ensure good fuel economy and constant electricity flow.

It has the 1.5 liter engine along with a motor that together produce a combined power of 194 hp. There are 2 types of LFP batteries on offer, one 7.8 kWh battery, and the other a larger 18 kWh battery. Combined it will be able to travel beyond 1000 km on a full tank and battery on WLTP test.

The model will be released in European markets in a matter of weeks, with deliveries of first vehicles expected by end of summer. BYD didn't release official prices in every single region, however experts suggest the starting price should be about 20,000 British pounds, or 27,000 US dollars. This price should be attractive for buyers in the small B segment.
