Maverick Games Announces Clutch Open World Racing Game Featuring Narrative Driven Gameplay Siblings Story And Deep Customization By Forza Horizon Veterans
Maverick Games has officially revealed their new open world arcade racing game, Clutch, which they emphasize is driven by narrative storytelling. Maverick Games is comprised of veterans including, Mike Brown, the former creative director for Forza Horizon 5 and also for portions of Forza Horizon parts 2 3 and 4. Clutch is their first release and the team has been hard at work building it, their vision is an attempt to combine high speed driving and an intricate campaign in a richly customizable sandbox.
In the game's campaign you will follow the story of 2 professional racing siblings. These characters are a pair of siblings, racing for two separate teams; they will navigate two racing disciplines, simultaneously. During the day they will race in professional motorsport events under regulations, and at night they will partake in illegal street racing within underground circuits. Building your reputation is the key to progression, where you must gain notoriety within two different racing organizations while attempting to balance fickle relationships with other rival teams.
The gameplay takes place within a vibrant PvPvE open world. Players will race against a multitude of opponents whether computer controlled or other players within the game. The physics and aesthetics are powered by a highly customized Unreal Engine 5, however the missions were hand crafted by Maverick Games, not procedurally generated, so that story and narrative can take center stage and the dramatic cinematic moments can come at the intended times.
Another priority for Maverick Games is the depth in their vehicles, in both appearance and performance. Players will be allowed to modify many performance statistics beyond just basic upgrades, to fine tune and shape their vehicles' individual handling profiles. Players will be able to fine tune and specialize vehicles for the legitimate racing scenes in sports circuits or for the risky and unpredictable races taking place on the streets.
Clutch will be releasing in Spring of 2027. Maverick Games also stated that at Summer Game Fest the public will get their first look at the game with a deep dive into their gameplay demo and will reveal further details about the project.
