LG Electronics Expands Home Appliance Subscription Model Across Southeast Asia

LG Electronics is expanding its home appliance subscription model from Malaysia into major Southeast Asian markets including Thailand, Singapore, Vietnam, and Taiwan. The business shift moves beyond simple consulting to integrate advanced delivery and maintenance services. The stakes are high.

Malaysia served as the testing ground for the subscription business when LG originally introduced the service. To optimize the customer experience there, the local branch refined its communication alerts and delivery tracking systems. These changes raised the initial delivery commitment rate from 81% to 84%, while the final installation rate reached 99.7% from 93.2%. Cumulative product sales under this program in the Malaysian market have now topped 300,000 units. LG aims to repeat this performance across neighboring countries to secure a steady stream of recurring revenue.

Now, LG is ready to export this operational framework to its other active subscription markets. A core part of this transfer is the Transactional Net Promoter Score, a metric designed to quantify customer satisfaction by measuring how likely users are to recommend the brand. LG recently introduced this metric in Malaysia to elevate service quality. The brand also plans to launch customized Safety Reports, which give subscribers direct access to their contract history and product inspection records.

Building local support infrastructure is the next step for each regional subsidiary. LG is establishing dedicated maintenance teams and shifting its local service networks to prioritize direct care. This includes digitalizing order processing and operating dedicated delivery fleets. The scale is already growing, with Thailand recently passing 10,000 active subscription accounts. Ultimately, the company wants to scale its global home appliance subscription revenue from 2 trillion won to over 6 trillion won by the end of the decade.
