Samsung Galaxy Z Series Sets Historic Pre Order Milestone

Samsung has shattered its previous sales records with the launch of the new Galaxy Z foldables. The company secured 1,440,000 bookings in the first week, propelled by a redesigned passport shaped Galaxy Z Fold8 and a growing demographic of younger buyers. It remains unclear whether promotional price cuts in South Korea triggered this massive surge in consumer demand.

According to official sales data released by the manufacturer, the volume of registrations outpaced all older Samsung flagships. Last year, the Galaxy Z Fold7 and Galaxy Z Flip7 managed 1,040,000 reservations combined. Even the major Galaxy Note10 launch peaked at 1,380,000 orders. The recent Galaxy S26 series, which debuted earlier this year, stopped at 1,350,000 bookings. This new milestone translates to buyers securing roughly 140 devices every single minute.

The standard Galaxy Z Fold8 claimed 70% of the total order volume. Buyers responded well to the physical design changes, particularly the wider 4 3 screen aspect ratio that mimics the shape of a passport when closed. Samsung also reported a shift in customer demographics. More young buyers and female consumers chose the pink Galaxy Z Flip8 and the cream Galaxy Z Fold8 than in previous years.

Traditional flat screen users are increasingly abandoning standard smartphones for foldables when they upgrade. This migration has expanded the overall market for flexible screens. However, Samsung did not clarify if the localized price drops for the Galaxy Z Fold8, the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, and the Galaxy Z Flip8 were the main reason for this rapid sales acceleration.
