Realforce Unveils GX1 Plus Pikachu Edition Electrostatic Keyboard

Realforce has unveiled the GX1 Plus Pikachu Edition, a licensed electrostatic keyboard themed around the iconic Pokémon. The hardware combines custom Pikachu branding and a 3 color keycap set with 8kHz polling and 45gf capacitive switches. Pre orders are scheduled to open late this year.

The chassis uses a gray finish accented with artwork celebrating the mascot. A lightning bolt graphic sits along the right side while the top left corner displays a Pikachu silhouette alongside the official Pokédex number. The keycaps feature a 3 color layout where the Esc, Fn, and Enter keys match the signature yellow finish. The individual keys spelling out the Pikachu name also use the same yellow colorway.

Under the hood the board uses an 80% TKL layout designed for desktop gaming. It relies on a single wired connection capable of an 8kHz polling rate for near instant input response. The switches are classic electrostatic capacitive units with 4.0mm of total travel distance and a 45gf actuation force. Realforce uses PBT keycaps manufactured with dye sublimation and double shot molding to prevent wear over long gaming sessions.

The Japanese peripheral brand showed off the hardware during the Tokyo Game Show. While pricing has not been disclosed official orders will begin before the end of the year. Fans of the franchise can expect more details on global regional availability closer to the retail release.
