Global PC shipments dropped 21% during the third quarter as total volume fell to 57 million units. Data from Counterpoint Research shows Lenovo maintained the top market spot with 26.3% of shipments despite steep annual declines across major vendors. Apple and ASUS managed to increase their overall market share even as broader consumer demand slowed.
Lenovo led the industry by shipping 15 million computers, though its volume sank 23% compared to the prior year. HP secured second place with 10.3 million shipments and an 18.1% market share, recording the steepest drop among top brands at 31%. Dell took third place, delivering 7.6 million machines to capture 13.3% of global volume following a 25% annual decline.
Apple shipped 5.6 million units to claim 9.8% of shipments, limiting its annual decline to 11%. ASUS followed closely in fifth place with 5.2 million units and a 9.2% market share, dropping just 7% year over year. Acer rounded out the top 6 vendors by shipping 3.8 million PCs for a 7% market share. Smaller percentage losses allowed both Apple and ASUS to capture market share directly from larger competitors during the slump.
Counterpoint Research expects market volume to stabilize rather than rebound quickly. Projections indicate global shipments throughout 2027 will match the levels recorded in 2026, pointing to a prolonged period of flat hardware demand.
