Keychron has released the Carbon 60 HE 8K, a compact gaming keyboard built entirely from carbon fiber materials. The board features magnetic switches with an 8000 Hz polling rate and a fully customizable actuation range. It is available now in the US market priced at $234.
Keychron constructed the chassis, the keycaps, and the internal switch plate out of rigid carbon fiber. The company claims this build is 10 times stiffer than standard plastic enclosures. Total weight comes in at 740 grams, making it suitable for portable travel setups. The 60 percent form factor drops the numeric pad, the function row, navigation keys, and arrow clusters. Users can trigger secondary commands through onboard layers or rebind keys using the Keychron Launcher web application.
The internal electronics run on Ultra Fast Lime magnetic switches paired with an 8000 Hz polling rate. Players can customize actuation points between 0.1 and 3.5 millimeters using fine steps of 0.005 millimeters. Competitive gaming features include Rapid Trigger, SOCD, and dynamic key travel actions. The Keychron Launcher software also handles per key RGB backlighting and macro assignments without requiring local software installations.
Cherry profile keycaps feature side printed legends that keep the top surfaces clean without letting light shine through. Internal acoustic tuning relies on dampening foam placed directly beneath the switch plate and at the bottom of the case, supported by a PET film layer to soften key bottoming sounds. The keyboard is currently in stock through the official Keychron online store for $234.
