Leaked Mass Effect 5 Trailer Confirmed Real Following BioWare Closure

A 2 minute trailer for the cancelled Mass Effect project has surfaced online following the shutdown of BioWare by Electronic Arts. The footage reveals a new N7 protagonist, gunfights across alien worlds, and a return appearance by Liara T'Soni. Industry reporter Jason Schreier confirmed that the video represents genuine internal footage from the abandoned game.

The leaked footage, circulating under the working title Mass Effect Universe, focuses on a former military operative wearing a long coat with the N7 insignia. The character shares a conversation with an asari inside a crowded bar before the sequence shifts into fast third person gunfights and melee combat. Liara T'Soni appears during the final moments of the video, leading directly into a title card that promised the game was coming soon. A Reddit user claiming to be an EA employee stated that the trailer was completed months ago, likely intended for public release during the annual N7 Day celebration.

The leak surfaced shortly after Electronic Arts decided to close BioWare and cancel the next installment of the franchise entirely. EA leadership confirmed that despite the initial public reveal 6 years ago, the game never progressed past early preproduction milestones. The studio operated for over 30 years, creating major role playing franchises including Dragon Age and Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic. With the development studio now closed, the Mass Effect property remains inactive with no future projects officially planned.
