GMKtec EVO-T1: A New Intel-Powered Mini PC Emerges
GMKtec is causing a stir with a look at a new machine joining their EVO series. This new machine, the EVO-T1, looks to be heating things up, especially with what has leaked regarding being under the hood.
Intel Power for a New Series of EVOs
It looks like GMKtec is unveiling its EVO family line. While the EVO-X series has occupied a niche, this new EVO-T1 is taking us into a new line, likely Intel-powered systems. And what an Intel processor it is reported to house. We are talking about the high-performance Intel Core Ultra 9 285H.
For those unfamiliar, this top-tier Arrow Lake CPU boasts 16 cores and 16 threads. GMKtec is hinting that this processor will be paired with a hefty 64 GB of memory. Why so much RAM. Well, the company suggests this combination will allow the EVO-T1 to handle complex AI tasks locally, even running models like the DeepSeek R1 32B.
Not Just for AI: Gaming Potential Too
But the Core Ultra 9 285H is not all about crunching AI data. The chip should also make the GMKtec EVO-T1 a very capable mini gaming computer. The integrated Intel Arc 140T graphics have shown themselves to be extremely competitive, even outpacing AMD's Radeon 890M per watt. Which would mean that you could be enjoying silky-smooth 1080p gaming on most AAA titles.
A New EVO-T1 Design
Although GMKtec is not giving much away, the teaser photo from the company hints the EVO-T1 may take a slightly different visual tone to its brother, the EVO-X2. It looks as though it might be smaller, perhaps with a more rounded chassis than the boxy design of the just-released AMD-based mini PC.
The teaser also confirms a Thunderbolt port on the front, but if it is the latest Thunderbolt 5 standard remains to be seen. What else do we know.
Mark Your Calendars
The full release of the GMKtec EVO-T1 is scheduled for July 2025. However, we might catch a glimpse sooner. The mini PC will apparently be unveiled at a GMKtec x Intel event on May 21st. Keep an eye out, as GMKtec will likely drip-feed us with more details over the coming days.
