RedMagic DAO Mini: A Compact 65W GaN Charger Punching Above Its Weight
Fresh from unveiling their RedMagic 10S Pro smartphone series, the company has introduced an interesting little gadget that is sure to turn heads. The RedMagic DAO mini is a compact charging brick punching above its weight with fast charging capabilities of 65 watts.
Dual Ports for Double Duty
It is certainly not a run-of-the-mill single-port charger. The DAO mini comes with two USB-C ports. Hence, charging two devices at once isn't excluded either. A maximum of 45W will be supplied from one port while the other port will deliver no less than 20W. So this means you can charge your smartphone and earbuds or even a tablet together.
Don't question compatibility. RedMagic certifies that this little beast supports an incredible array of charging protocols- the famous ones like QC 3.0, PD 3.0, Apple 2.4, FCP, and SCP among them. Well actually, all your gadgets should find themselves quite at home with this charger.
Small Size, Big Style
Another highlight of the DAO mini is its extremely small size. According to RedMagic, it is 43% smaller than an average 70W charger. And to top it off, it possesses a foldable plug for maximum convenience-whether to stow in a case or toss in a bag. Gone are the days of lugging a bulky brick.
The design is such that it has a cool futuristic feel to it. Cyberpunkish is the right term, with a transparent panel on one side and a texture that looks like carbon fiber on top. It is definitely not blending in.
Smart Tech Inside
And it doesn't end there. The DAO mini brings in the new tech with GaN chip technology. What does this mean for you. Another thing about GaN chips is that they are much more efficient producing less heat as compared to their traditional silicon counterparts, which allows a charger to increase in power while its size decreases.

The RedMagic DAO mini 65W charger retails in China for CNY 119, which comes around $16.50 USD. For this sort of feature-packed charger, this price is a steal.
As far as an ETA outside China, an official global launch date hasn't been pinned yet. It is, however, anticipated that its entry into foreign markets will coincide with that of the new RedMagic 10S Pro series. So keep your eyes peeled.
