AMD Expands CPU Lineup with New Zen 3 and Zen 5 Processors
AMD is still hanging on the shoulder of the age-old AM4 platform with the new Zen 3 CPU, the Ryzen 5 5600F. At the same time, new releases were made to include the Ryzen 7 9700F in the broadened Zen 5 family, thus indicating a rather broad strategy for both old and new platforms.
Ryzen 5 5600F Another One for the AM4 Family
That's AMD's new Ryzen 5 5600F Zen 3 processor apparently targeted at beginning users in the APJ region. The CPU has now silently appeared on AMD's official website.
- Cores and Threads: 6 cores and 12 threads, exactly as with the Ryzen 5 5600.
- Clock Speeds: 3.0 GHz base and 4.0 GHz boost clock, noticeably lower than the 3.5 GHz / 4.4 GHz of the Ryzen 5 5600.
- Cache: Retains the full 32 MB of L3 cache, very important for gaming performance.
- Integrated Graphics: Like other non-G Ryzen 5000 CPUs, it does not have an iGPU.
There has been no announcement of price arrangements for the Ryzen 5 5600F. However, it is programmed to be a sub-$100 CPU possibly slotting it below the existing Ryzen 5 5500 and Ryzen 5 5600 models.
Ryzen 7 9700F An 8-Core Zen 5 CPU for AM5
AMD also along with the new Ryzen 7 9700F processor added to its line, the Zen 5-based processors for the AM5 platform. Its introduction was indirectly confirmed with the announcement from the motherboard maker ASRock.
- Cores and Threads: 8 cores and 16 threads, just like the Ryzen 7 9700X.
- Clock Speeds: This has a 3.8 GHz base clock and a 5.5 GHz boost clock.
- Cache and TDP: Cache size and TDP is expected to match those of the 9700X.
- Integrated Graphics: The "F" designation means that it has no integrated graphics.
Price is expected to be around the $250-$300 mark, paving a cheaper entry into the 8-core Zen 5 lineup for users with a graphics card.
Motherboard Support Already Confirmed by ASRock
ASRock stated that its AM5 motherboards, inclusive of ISA 8 chipset models such as X870E, B850, X670E, B650, and A620, will accommodate the new Ryzen 9000 and 7000 series CPUs including the Ryzen 7 9700F with the aid of a BIOS update. Users will have to install BIOS version 3.30 (AGESA 1.2.0.3e Patch A) or newer for the compatibility requirements.
Together with releases that include the Ryzen 5 7400F, 7400, and 9500F also, such products symbolize AMD's plans seeking to fill out their CPU offerings across generation lines and price points.
