Punkt Shows Off Privacy-Centered MC03 Minimalist Smartphone
Punkt of Switzerland has unveiled the MC03 smartphone at CES 2026. The new device continues the brand's manifesto on digital minimalism, privacy, and security, being powered by a bespoke operating system named AphyOS.
AphyOS An Operating System With Two Sections
Punkt's MC03 smartphone runs AphyOS, a privacy-conscious operating system based on AOSP (Android Open Source Project). This splits user data and applications into two sections:
- The Vault: This contains a handpicked selection of applications that have passed Punkt's internal privacy and security review.
- Wild Web: This allows the installation of any approved Android application. To protect user data, the Wild Web section is secured with Ledger's proprietary algorithm, which acts as an advanced permissions manager that governs app access to data, sensors, and background resources.

The hardware components of the device are all modern, to accommodate the software features.
