MSI to Use Samsung Penta Tandem Panels in All 2026 QD OLED Monitors

MSI has expanded its partnership with Samsung Display to confirm that all its QD OLED monitors for 2026 will use Penta Tandem technology. The new panel architecture replaces its existing four layer design with a five layer design in order to solve common brightness and longevity issues which affect OLED displays.

The Penta Tandem design incorporates a five layer blue emitting structure which uses modern organic materials. The panels create two main performance benefits through their energy distribution system which functions across five separate layers.

  • Increased Efficiency Design luminous efficiency has improved to 1.3 times the level of earlier models which results in more intense bright highlights.
  • Enhanced Durability The panel lifespan extends to double its original period because the layer system requires less operational load while it protects against permanent image retention (burn in) problems.

The pixel density found in 27 inch 4K monitors creates brightness problems because their smaller individual pixel sizes limit light output. MSI notes that the MPG 272URX QD OLED was among the first to use this five layer structure to maintain high brightness levels at 4K resolution. The tandem architecture provides protection while high resolution gaming maintains its visually bright display.

MSI has identified six specific models that will feature the Penta Tandem technology in 2026. The displays use different size options and refresh rate ranges to meet the needs of both gamers and professionals.

  • MPG 341CQR QD OLED X36
  • MAG 341CQP QD OLED X28
  • MPG 322UR QD OLED X24
  • MAG 321UP QD OLED X24
  • MAG 272UP QD OLED X24
  • MPG 272URX QD OLED

Summary of Improvements

The 2026 QD OLED monitor generation has improved energy efficiency while maintaining material stability compared to the previous QD OLED monitor generation. The five layer stack system together with Samsung’s current organic materials will enable MSI to build high end displays which maintain better product reliability than traditional OLED displays.
