GEEKOM has announced the 2027 edition of its A5 mini PC. Powered by the 8 core AMD Ryzen 7 7730U Barcelo R processor, the compact computer stands out by offering 3 internal storage bays and an all metal internal frame. But the hardware sticks to DDR4 memory and PCIe Gen3 speeds rather than moving to newer memory standards,, The mini pc priced at $549.
The chassis measures 4.61 by 4.41 by 1.94 inches and houses an all metal internal frame for added structural rigidity. Cooling is handled by the IceBlast 3.0 thermal setup. The internal fan keeps acoustic noise down to 28dB when the machine is idle and reaches 32dB under full load. That keeps it quiet enough for home theater setups or standard office desks. For system memory, the board supplies 2 DDR4 SO DIMM slots.
Storage flexibility is the big selling point here. The motherboard includes 1 M.2 2280 slot supporting PCIe Gen3 x4 or SATA III, a secondary M.2 2242 SATA III slot, and room for a 2.5 inch 7mm SATA III drive. This 3 bay setup gives buyers plenty of room to mix fast system storage with high capacity budget drives. Wireless communication relies on an internal card providing Wi Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.4 support.
External port selection covers plenty of everyday accessories without needing dongles. The front and rear panels include 3 USB A ports running at 10Gbps, 2 USB C ports running at 10Gbps, 1 USB A port at 480Mbps, and an SD card reader. Dual monitor setups are supported through 2 HDMI 2.0 ports. Wired networking is handled by a single 2.5GbE RJ 45 jack, alongside a 3.5mm audio jack for headphones.
GEEKOM showcased the updated A5 unit alongside its higher end hardware lineup at IFA 2026. Other machines on display included the A9 Max, positioning the A5 as the budget friendly everyday desktop option in the collection.
