MediaTek has announced its first Pro branded flagship processor under the Dimensity lineup. The new silicon introduces dedicated upgrades for gaming, ray tracing, and 4K 240fps slow motion recording. Industry leaks suggest the top tier variant will be the first mobile processor built on a 2nm manufacturing node.
The announcement arrived via the official MediaTek Weibo account, where the company outlined a major push for efficiency and architectural redesigns. According to industry leaks, the release will feature 2 separate flagship processors under the Dimensity 9600 name. The standard Dimensity 9600 will rely on a refined TSMC 3nm process as an upgrade over the previous Dimensity 9500 platform. The headline release is the Dimensity 9600 Pro, which is expected to debut on TSMC second generation 2nm N2P technology.
Moving to a 2nm node provides substantial gains in power management and processing speed. Early estimates indicate that this 2nm architecture delivers an 18% performance jump at identical power levels when compared to previous N3E silicon. When focused on power saving, the chip can cut power consumption by roughly 36% while sustaining the exact same processing speed. These numbers point to huge battery life improvements for upcoming high performance Android phones.
Gaming and graphics processing represent another core focus for this generation. MediaTek is integrating AI processing directly into GPU rendering to boost visual quality without generating excess heat. The updated StarSpeed Engine works alongside improved hardware ray tracing to deliver realistic lighting in mobile games. On the camera side, the chip introduces support for 4K video recording at 240fps, allowing creators to capture ultra high speed slow motion footage.
MediaTek is scheduled to reveal complete technical specifications and device availability at an official launch event later this month. Smartphone manufacturers are expected to showcase their first devices powered by the Dimensity 9600 series shortly after the event concludes.
