Elysium Game Studio has revealed 16 minutes of gameplay from Neo Berlin 2087, an upcoming cyberpunk action RPG positioning itself as a spiritual successor to Deus Ex. The footage showcases detailed city lighting, stealth takedowns, and a camera system that toggles between first person and third person views. But the preview comes from an early alpha build ahead of its planned 2028 launch on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series systems.
With the Deus Ex franchise on ice, indie studios are stepping up to fill the void. Elysium Game Studio focused heavily on mood and visual density in this preview. Streets are packed with realistic lighting, moving background props, and thick particle effects. The game looks atmospheric. However, performance still needs work. The framerate dips in heavy scenes and character movement transitions appear unfinished, which is typical for early software.
Exploration allows players to swap between first person shooting and third person movement at will. Combat sticks to familiar ground. You can sneak through security zones using silent takedowns or fight in open rooms with a suppressed pistol and a knife. Dialogue choices appear during narrative scenes, though most options do not seem to alter the main plot path. The character relies on conventional firearms rather than complex cybernetic implants or high tech hacking tools, though deeper systems could surface in future builds.
The studio is targeting a 2028 release window, giving the development team plenty of time to polish frame performance and expand gameplay systems. Neo Berlin 2087 is currently in active production for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series consoles.
