Co op Anything Automates Multiplayer Development Using AI Coding Agents

A new GitHub project called Co op Anything enables artificial intelligence coding agents to build multiplayer modes for single player PC titles. The tool coordinates models like Claude Code, Codex, and Cursor to analyze game engines, repair broken community modifications, or write netcode from scratch. While the system automates major programming hurdles, users must still supply their own API tokens and perform manual testing.

Co op Anything operates by feeding project structures into autonomous coding assistants such as Gemini CLI, OpenCode, and Claude Code. The agent begins by scanning the game directory to locate older, abandoned multiplayer modifications that need bug fixes and modernization. When prior modding projects exist, the AI updates the code base and compiles a functional installer. For titles lacking existing multiplayer assets, the software takes a longer route by reverse engineering engine binaries, inserting a 2 player slot, and writing custom network synchronization routines.

Community members have already used the repository to restore multiplayer functionality in older PC classics. The system successfully revived HX Co op for Deus Ex, updated KeeperFX for Dungeon Keeper, and built a synchronized cooperative mode for Fallout New Vegas. Building these modes is not an automated 1 click operation. Players need direct access to the original game files, an active subscription to a supported coding agent, and the patience to test multiple iterative builds before achieving stable gameplay.
