iPhone Duo Gaming Benchmarks Reveal High Framerates and Scaling Flaws

Early gaming benchmarks for the foldable iPhone Duo reveal high frame rates alongside unresolved software scaling issues. Tested by YouTube channel Booredatwork ahead of retail availability, the device pairs Apple A20 Pro silicon with a dual cell 4883 mAh battery. While raw graphics output matches expectations, black letterboxing across unoptimized titles and a grainy matte inner screen dampen the overall experience.

Raw performance from the A20 Pro chip remains competitive across mobile shooters and heavy open world titles

  • Call of Duty Mobile: Averaged 116 fps on maximum settings.
  • PUBG Mobile: Maintained a flat 120 fps.
  • Delta Force: Hit 116 fps on its highest available preset, pushing chassis temperatures to 44°C.
  • Genshin Impact: Averaged 102 fps without frame generation at peak graphics, warming the device to 43°C.
  • Wuthering Waves: Averaged 63 fps at 41°C.
  • Zenless Zone Zero: Settled at 58 fps.
  • Fortnite: Reached 114 fps.
  • UnGodly (Demonstration title): Reached 72 fps when targeted at 120 fps.
  • Console Ports (Control & Resident Evil 4 Remake): Remain locked at 30 fps without proper aspect ratio scaling.

Software optimization remains the primary hurdle for the foldable hardware. Most major titles display thick black borders on both the cover screen and the folding interior panel because developers have not updated their games for the new dimensions. Only UnGodly displayed natively during testing. Beyond software scaling, physical ergonomics presented problems. The matte nano texture coating on the folding screen successfully conceals the central crease, but it degrades visual clarity, reduces brightness, and introduces noticeable grain. Gamers using physical accessories also face an awkwardly placed USB Type C port that interferes with clamp style mobile controllers.

Battery drain during heavy testing proved manageable. The internal 4883 mAh dual cell pack dropped from 100% to 65% across the entire benchmark session. This shows solid endurance for extended gaming, though software updates will determine whether the display scaling flaws get resolved before the retail launch.
