Liquid Swords Enters Bankruptcy Following Disastrous Samson Launch

Liquid Swords Closes Down Following Samson Commercial Failure

Swedish game developer Liquid Swords has officially filed for bankruptcy following the commercial failure of its debut action project Samson. Founded by Just Cause creator Christofer Sundberg, the business survived just 6 months after the initial release before entering liquidation. The court decision abruptly halts all ongoing patch production, leaving players with an unfinished title.

The Stockholm District Court issued the formal bankruptcy ruling, according to coverage by Swedish business publication Breakit. Sundberg formed the studio in 2020 after serving as the director for all 4 main entries in the Just Cause franchise at Avalanche Studios. Samson was pitched as an ambitious spiritual successor to Driver, but the title became an overwhelming financial drain that a secondary console release failed to resolve.

Critical reviews rapidly crippled sales momentum, with the title averaging a poor score of 51 points. Players flooded community forums with reports of mission breaking bugs, broken controls, and repetitive mission loops. While Sundberg publicly labeled the technical quality of the game unacceptable and pledged post launch updates to fix the software, the sudden liquidation of Liquid Swords means no further patches will be distributed to buyers.
