Akira Yamaoka Composes Original Music for Shooter Active Matter

Akira Yamaoka has joined the soundtrack lineup for the upcoming shooter Active Matter. Known globally for his work on psychological horror classics, the Japanese composer contributed 3 original songs spanning acoustic melodies and heavy rock. The wider score features over 100 tracks from dozens of independent musicians ahead of the game launch next week.

Matter Team and publisher Gaijin Entertainment gave their roster of guest musicians complete creative freedom. The music lineup is huge. Rather than locking the score into 1 predictable genre, the developers allowed acoustic melodies, heavy metal, and atmospheric electronic tracks to sit side by side. This sonic variety mirrors the game world, where military operatives venture into a fractured reality filled with gravity defying anomalies and strange creatures.

Yamaoka created 3 distinct pieces for the project. These include the acoustic ballad titled Im Here, a blues inspired track called Porcelain Heart, and an energetic rock anthem named Neon Decay. Each piece highlights a different emotional tone within the game universe.

Working on Active Matter was a very exciting and inspiring experience for me. With this title, I was given the freedom to express myself through music without being confined by any particular genre. Rather than thinking about how the music should be categorized, I simply focused on creating what I genuinely wanted to express at this moment in my life as an artist.

The audio production will not stop when the game arrives on digital storefronts. Matter Team confirmed that new musical compositions will release through regular game updates. Selected soundtrack albums are also scheduled to arrive on music streaming platforms for standalone listening.

Note We received the key for the full game review. The game looks promising so far, and early impressions are good. That is all we can say for now, see you in the full review.

Active Matter arrives in just a few days for PC on Steam, as well as PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S consoles. Players will soon be able to hear Yamaoka and the rest of the artist lineup as they drop into the anomaly zone.
