AMD Brings FSR 4.1 to Xbox Series X and S Consoles

AMD has announced that FSR 4.1 upscaling technology is coming to Xbox Series X and Series S consoles to improve image reconstruction. The graphics update coincides with broader cross platform expansion, adding official Vulkan API compatibility in the upcoming software development kit. Hardware optimizations are also rolling out for desktop Radeon RX 9000 graphics cards to stabilize frame pacing during high load gaming.

Console players will soon see updated visual scaling through FSR 4.1. AMD is deploying the algorithm directly to the Xbox Series X and Series S architectures, allowing developers to target higher visual clarity with lower native rendering workloads. This integration brings modern temporal upscaling techniques to existing console hardware, helping games maintain target frame rates without losing fine geometric detail.

AMD expands developer access by introducing Vulkan graphics API support within FSR SDK 2.4. Previous iterations tied the technology closely to Microsoft DirectX pipelines, which restricted use cases across alternative graphics environments. The addition of Vulkan support removes this barrier, enabling game creators to implement FSR across a wider selection of operating systems and custom rendering engines.

On the PC side, AMD is rolling out targeted frame pacing improvements for FSR frame generation on Radeon RX 9000 series desktop graphics cards. This update adjusts how generated frames are queued and presented on display panels to eliminate micro stuttering. By stabilizing frame delivery intervals, the driver update produces smoother motion and lowers input latency in supported gaming titles.
