ASUS has introduced the ZenWiFi BN12, marking the arrival of the first consumer mesh networking system built on the new Wi Fi 8 standard. The 2 pack hardware delivers tri band wireless coverage across up to 650 square meters with combined bandwidth reaching roughly 19 Gbps. European retailer ComputerUniverse lists the system at 1160 euros, while official suggested retail pricing remains unannounced.
The setup targets large homes that strain standard routers. Each module uses 8 internal antennas to route signals across 2.4, 5, and 6 GHz bands. Wi Fi 8 brings specific upgrades designed for crowded airwaves and weak signal areas. The hardware supports Unequal Modulation, Non Primary Channel Access, updated coding schemes, and direct coordination across multiple access points. Users can expand coverage at any point by pairing extra AiMesh units.
Software tools handle traffic optimization automatically. Smart AiMesh keeps client connections stable as users walk between rooms. Adaptive QoE monitors network load to prioritize bandwidth for video calls and competitive gaming. A monitoring tool called WiFi Insight detects local interference, switches channels automatically, and logs performance metrics over a rolling 24 hour window.
Physical ports include 2 Ethernet jacks rated at 10 Gbps and 3 Ethernet jacks running at 2.5 Gbps. These ports connect PCs, network storage units, and wired access points directly. A USB 3.2 Gen 1 port provides external storage access. Network wide security runs through AiProtection, Safe Browsing, Triple DNS Guard, and parental filters without requiring software installations on individual client devices.
