BYD has unveiled the Atto 8 in Europe, presenting a flagship 7 seat electric crossover equipped with its second generation Blade Battery. The vehicle features ultra rapid Flash Charging technology capable of taking the 115 kWh pack from 10% to 97% in 9 minutes. European deliveries will begin in the 1st quarter of 2027, with official pricing still to be determined.
The chassis measures 5040 millimeters long, 1996 millimeters wide, and 1760 millimeters tall. BYD offers 2 drivetrain setups. The Design RWD configuration generates 456 horsepower and 365 Nm of torque, pushing the vehicle from zero to 100 km/h in 8 seconds with an electric driving range of up to 600 km. The dual motor Excellence AWD trim delivers 764 horsepower and 775 Nm of torque, dropping the zero to 100 km/h acceleration time to 4.6 seconds while maintaining a range of up to 602 km.
Charging speed stands out as the primary engineering focus for the Atto 8 platform. The onboard Flash Charging architecture charges the 115 kWh battery from 10% to 80% in 5 minutes, reaching 97% capacity in 9 minutes under standard conditions. In freezing environments tested at minus 30 degrees Celsius, charging the pack from 20% to 97% takes 12 minutes.
The cabin incorporates a 10.25 inch digital driver instrument cluster, a 26 inch head up display, and a 15.6 inch central multimedia touch display. Heating, ventilation, and massage functions are built into the front seats as well as the outer positions of the second row. Luggage capacity measures 270 liters with all 3 rows upright, expanding to 1960 liters when folding the second and third rows flat. An additional front storage trunk provides 136 liters of cargo space. The Excellence AWD grade also includes a 21 speaker DiSound audio setup and an integrated refrigerator unit.
