Clive Barker Praises Hellraiser Revival Following Censorship Concerns

Hellraiser creator Clive Barker has publicly praised Hellraiser Revival after initially fearing strict rating boards would tone down the gore. Speaking to Dread Central, the author commended developer Boss Team Games for delivering an uncompromising adaptation of his universe. The title is currently available on PC and consoles, where positive player feedback stands in contrast to mixed critical reviews.

Barker admitted he initially worried the most provocative visual elements would fail to survive regulatory review boards. The final release surprised him by retaining its explicit horror sequences without studio compromises. Barker shared his reaction to the finished project:

For the audience that loves horror video games and Hellraiser, it is a total knockout. I am very proud of the end result.

Doug Bradley returns to voice Pinhead, a decision Barker called essential to the identity of the project. The 2 have worked together since their teenage years in theater before producing the original film. Barker stated that replacing Bradley with another voice actor would have undermined the production.

The campaign follows a protagonist named Aidan fighting Cenobites with firearms and supernatural puzzle box powers. While critics gave the release a lukewarm reception, player sentiment across digital storefronts remains strongly favorable.
