The RPCS3 development team has pushed its PlayStation 3 emulator past a major compatibility benchmark, with over 80% of the console library now fully playable on PC. The milestone brings the total count of completed games to 2855 titles that run without game breaking bugs or performance dips. While most popular releases are now stable, demanding series like Ratchet and Clank still require top tier computer hardware to match original console speeds.
The playable catalog expanded from 2558 to 2855 titles since the beginning of the year. In the testing criteria used by the project, the playable tag means a user can finish the entire game from start to end without encountering crashes or severe slowdowns. The remaining 20% of the library can still boot on modern computers, but players will encounter visual bugs or uneven frame rates depending on the title.
Recent emulator builds focus on refining the Cell processor emulation and graphics pipeline. The developers also added input support for PlayStation Move motion controllers and USB microphones, widening the scope of compatible peripheral games. Stability patches solved previous crash issues across the Ratchet and Clank games, although the developer team keeps them off the official verified list until recommended computer hardware can run them at full speed without custom tweaks.
