Croteam and Devolver Digital have officially announced Serious Sam The Third Encounter, marking a direct continuation of the classic shooter series 24 years after the previous mainline entry. The new title returns to the original roots of the franchise, sending protagonist Sam Stone into alien territory to battle Mentals Horde. The project is currently in early production, with no confirmed release date.
Croteam positions this release as a genuine mainline successor rather than an experimental spin off. Original team members who worked on Serious Sam The First Encounter are involved with production to protect the traditional gameplay design. The campaign sends players across hostile alien worlds to strike deep into enemy territory and eliminate invading forces.
Players can complete the campaign solo or through online cooperative play. The studio has not yet confirmed the total player capacity supported in cooperative lobbies. While production remains in the opening phases, multi language support including Russian localization is confirmed ahead of launch. Croteam plans to share technical specifications and target hardware details as development advances.
