SilverStone has introduced the MS12 E, an external M.2 SSD enclosure built specifically for filming and video production setups. The aluminum casing features dedicated M4 screw threads and a 1/4 inch mount to attach directly to camera cages, tripods, and magic arms. Retail pricing and global shipping dates have not yet been confirmed.
Data transmission relies on the ASMedia ASM2364 controller chip. The enclosure accepts PCIe NVMe solid state drives in both 2242 and 2280 sizes. Connectivity runs through a USB C port offering transfer speeds up to 20Gbps, allowing videographers to record high bitrate video footage directly to the drive without dropped frames.
SilverStone builds the chassis using an aluminum alloy body for passive heat dissipation during sustained read and write operations. The package includes a thermal pad rated at 2W/m·K that pulls heat away from the internal drive. Drive installation is completely tool free, letting users swap storage modules quickly on location without carrying screwdrivers.
