Sonnet Launches Echo III T5 Desktop Thunderbolt 5 PCIe Expansion Chassis

Sonnet has introduced the Echo III T5 Desktop, an external expansion enclosure powered by high speed Thunderbolt 5 connectivity. The aluminum chassis features 3 PCIe Gen3 slots designed to run full length add in cards alongside an internal 400W power supply. The expansion system is currently available for purchase at a retail price of $1199.99.

Sonnet arranges the internal expansion across 3 PCIe Gen3 slots running in x8, x16, and x8 electrical configurations. This layout supports up to 3 full length expansion cards simultaneously, targeting professional users who require specialized capture, audio, or network interfaces outside of standard graphics cards. The built in 400W power supply delivers system electricity and includes 1 auxiliary 75W 6 pin power lead for hardware requiring dedicated supplemental power.

Cooling is managed by dual Noctua PWM fans tuned to maintain quiet operation during sustained workloads. For external connections, Sonnet includes 1 downstream Thunderbolt 5 port to support daisy chaining extra peripherals or displays. The package ships with a certified Thunderbolt 5 cable and a ThunderLok connector clip to secure the cable against accidental disconnects during operation.
