Sunbeam Wireless Releases Rugged F1 Pro Poplar and Walnut Flip Phones

Sunbeam Wireless has launched the F1 Pro Poplar and F1 Pro Walnut, 2 rugged flip phones engineered for minimal digital distraction. Both devices integrate modern encrypted messaging through the Dewdrop service and Signal compatibility, while completely blocking web browsing, social media, and third party apps. The new handsets carry a retail price of $389 each, bundled with a dedicated charging dock and power adapter.

Both models share identical internal hardware. A MediaTek MT6739 processor runs the system alongside 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. Users can expand capacity through a microSD card slot up to 32GB. Up front sits a 2.8 inch touchscreen running at 640x480 resolution. A 5 MP rear camera captures photos and records video clips, though software restricts recording length to 2 minutes per clip. Power comes from a 2200 mAh removable battery charged via USB Type C or the included dock. Physical connectivity includes a 3.5 mm audio port, and the rugged shell provides water and dust resistance without an official IP rating.

Sunbeam restricts the operating environment to keep users focused on basic communication. The integrated Dewdrop client allows direct messaging with other Dewdrop accounts and smartphone users on the Signal platform. Standard utility tools include email, GPS navigation, and Waze mapping, while general web browsers and application stores are entirely absent.

The 2 models diverge on network sharing and privacy filtering. The F1 Pro Walnut operates as a mobile Wi Fi hotspot for external hardware. The F1 Pro Poplar removes hotspot capabilities completely and adds a privacy filter that blocks inbound calls and messages originating from artificial intelligence numbers.
