Halo: Infinite Gets Final Update as Developers Shift Focus to New Projects
The Halo developer studio clarified in a recent announcement that Halo: Infinite will be getting its final major update next week. The development group will then shift to explore new projects, with the top priority being called Halo: Campaign Evolved, a remake of the 2001 game's campaign on Unreal Engine 5, scheduled for release in 2025.
While that is the only confirmed project, the developers claim that several other Halo projects are being developed. These rumor-mongering projects could include remakes of campaigns for Halo 2 and Halo 3, and also the next mainline entry in the franchise.
Details about the last update, "Operation: Infinite"
Operation: Infinite is the last update and goes live on November 18. The full update will feature changes and additions to the game's progression and content.
Progression Boosts and New Passes
Introduced into this update are some very heavy progression boosts meant to benefit players completing their collections:
- 2x Earning Rates: Career Rank and Spartan Points (SP) will be double-the-length of the earning rate, thus helping players ranks to unlock items including the Mark VI armor kit, across all the matchmaking playlists.
- New Operation Passes: A Free 100-tier Operation Pass and another 100-tier Premium Pass will be launched, with no expiration set as of now.
- The Free Pass will unlock three new armor sets (Serpin, Seeker, Adamant) along with coding and other items.
- The Premium Pass unlocks five other armor sets (Artificer, Seedwarden, Kobold, Phoenix, First Vanguard), six weapon models, and over thirty other exclusive customizations.
Increased Customization Options and New Maps
The store and map rotation are the other aspects being refreshed:
- The Exchange Update: Over 200 customization items from previous events in armor, attachments, and coatings will be added to The Exchange, as well as content from previous Operations and Events and the commemorative Halo 5: Guardians bundle.
- New Maps: The holiday map Yuletide will be added into Quickplay, while the asymmetrical map Vacancy will be added into Ranked Arena.
Live Support and Ranked
While "Operation: Infinite" will be the last major update, a portion of its features will continue:
- Challenges: Daily and Weekly Challenges in rotation offering opportunities to rank up Career Rank, progress through Passes, and earn Spartan Points.
- Ranked Seasons: Return of Ranked Seasons with resets every few months for selected top players to earn exclusive customizations.
